Gynecology is the medical specialty that addresses women's health, studying the peculiarities of the female body. Periodic, routine gynecological investigations can detect some conditions or abnormal conditions in time, avoiding difficult situations or complications that may arise over time.
How often should we visit the doctor?
We must have a gynecological consultation at least once a year. This is necessary to avoid various problems and diseases of the genital area. Regular visits to the doctor are important for cancer prevention. The greatest danger of cervical diseases lies in the fact that, in the early phase, they are asymptomatic. If the changes are not detected in time, then surgical intervention will be necessary. Seek medical attention immediately if you experience the following symptoms:
- Pain during intercourse;
- Choice of contraception method;
- Painful, heavy menstruation;
- Disorders of the menstrual cycle;
- Intermenstrual bleeding;
- Pain in the lower abdomen (so-called "threshold" pain);
- Urinary disorders;
- Changes in the mammary glands;
- Problems with conception;
- Pregnancy;
- Foul-smelling and itchy discharge.
In order to be able to make a correct diagnosis, in addition to the consultation of our specialists, there are a number of additional analyzes and investigations that you can perform at Harper Medklinik:
- The gynecological consultation is recommended to be carried out annually, after starting sexual life, regardless of the absence of symptoms.
- The senological consultation involves the inspection and palpation of the breasts, in order to detect possible breast conditions. It is usually recommended to be completed by a breast imaging investigation (ultrasound or mammography).
- The Pap smear or Pap test is the investigation used to screen for changes in the cervix. It is a painless, non-invasive and quick procedure and is the most important diagnostic test for detecting cervical dysplasia (cervical dysplasia) and oncological pathology.
- The examination of the vaginal discharge is collected when there are changes in the vaginal secretions such as an unpleasant odor, a cloudy or transparent white color or a yellowish tint, symptoms that may indicate the presence of an infection, a sexually transmitted disease, etc.
- Transvaginal ultrasound is an advanced, highly accurate examination of the female genital organs using ultrasound, using a transducer inserted into the vagina. It is the imaging method most used to investigate conditions of the female genital organs: uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes. Transvaginal ultrasound allows a high degree of diagnostic accuracy, as it is performed with dedicated transducers, with high frequency and resolution.
